What to do

Visit www.similacrecall.com or call 1-800-986-8540 to find out if your formula is included.

Products are included in the recall if they have all three items below:

  • the first two digits of the code are 22 through 37, and
  • the code on the container contains K8, SH, or Z2, and
  • the expiration date is 4-1-2022 (APR 2022) or later.

At this time, Similac PM 60/40 with lot code 27032K80 (can) / 27032K800 (case) are the only type and lots of this specialty formula being recalled.

DO NOT feed your baby formula if it is included in this recall.

For participants with cans of recalled formula

Do not throw out any cans of recalled formula. They will be needed to receive a replacement. Keep them in a safe place but do not use them.

WIC participants with recalled cans of formula, regardless of type, can bring the recalled cans to the store and ask for an exchange (which may include, but are not limited to, the same product, a substitute product, or a store gift card). Retailers are working hard to update their inventory in response to this recall.

Participants can also contact the Brockton WIC Program for additional guidance if they have recalled cans of formula in hand.

For participants with WIC formula benefits

Participants that use Similac Advance and have benefits for the 12.4-ounce cans should be able to locate increasing amounts of that formula at the stores over the coming days and weeks. If participants are unable to locate the formula, they should contact the Brockton WIC Program.

Participants that use Similac Sensitive, Similac Total Comfort, Similac For Spit-Up, Alimentum, Elecare/Elecare Jr or impacted Similac PM 60/40 should contact the Brockton WIC Program for guidance on available options.

Please note that it is unsafe to overdilute formula, make homemade infant formula or use regular cow’s milk, goat milk or milk substitutes to feed infants. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends feeding infants iron-fortified infant formula during the first year of life when human milk is unavailable.

We understand that this is a challenging situation and affecting many families across the country. We are working hard to find solutions that work for families.
